A Bristol man accused of inappropriately touching young children at their relative’s Elkhart County home has been arrested on child molesting charges.
Larry Dean Mcclane, 67, faces two charges of child molesting as a Level 4 felony in Elkhart County Superior Court 3.
Two victims, ages 7 and 9, each told a forensic interviewer that Mcclane touched or rubbed their genitals on multiple occasions while they were at a relative’s home.
Police say Mcclane was removed from the relative’s home after the victim’s parents confronted him with the accusations. Mcclane told one of the parents, “I didn’t hurt them” after he was confronted, according to court documents.
A parent of the victims reported the alleged child abuse to Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department on June 18, the day Mcclane allegedly molested both children. According to court documents, the 9-year-old told a forensic interviewer the next day that Mcclane had touched them multiple times over two or three months.
Formal charges against Mcclane were filed Nov. 17 and he was arrested Saturday, digital court records show.
Mcclane is being held in Elkhart County Jail with bond set at $50,000. If convicted, he faces up to 24 years in prison.
