A 39-year-old Marysville man has been arrested, accused of molesting his girlfriend’s young daughter over a two year period.
Marysville police say Juan Francisco Rodriguez was arrested last Thursday, after a more than three month investigation into the sexual assault of a girl under the age of 14.
Police Lt. Jason Garringer says the investigation began in June when a 16-year-old runaway was apprehended by a Yuba County Sheriff’s deputy.
When asked why she ran away, the girl told authorities she was afraid her mother was getting back together with her ex, who molested her for more than two years starting when she was just 12.
The girl told police Rodriguez forced her to have sex with him on numerous occasions when he was dating her mother. The abuse started when the victim was 12, and continued until 2014.
Rodriguez is also accuse of sending the teen a text message containing a lewd photograph.
Police brought Rodriguez in for questioning on Thursday and then arrested him on suspicion of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14, unlawful sexual intercourse, oral copulation, contact of minor with intent to commit sexual offense, harmful matter sent to minor, inflicting corporal injury on a cohabitant, and violation of probation. He remains in custody at the Yuba County Jail with bail set at $500,000.
