A Richmond man was arrested Monday evening on a Level 1 felony charge of child molesting.
Gabriel Orduno, 40, of the 100 block of South 13th Street was lodged in the Wayne County Jail, where he remained Tuesday morning on a bond of $75,000 surety or 10 percent cash.
The mother of a 6-year-old girl known to Orduno called police Monday morning to report her daughter saying she had been inappropriately touched and fondled, said Richmond Police Department Sgt. Mike Britt. There are no previous allegations against Orduno, according to Britt.
Detective Tom Legear investigated the complaint with assistance from Patrolman Sergio Santiago during the interview of Orduno, Britt said, and a probable cause arrest resulted.
The preliminary charge was enhanced to the most severe felony because of digital penetration and because Orduno is older than 21, Britt said.
Paperwork about the investigation has been submitted to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office for formal charges to be filed within 48 hours, Britt said.
