A 67-year-old Lincoln man faces six child sexual assault charges after police say he molested five girls between 1997 and 2015.
The youngest child Michael J. Martin stands accused of molesting was 3 when the abuse began, Lincoln Police Sgt. Brian Agnew said in court documents.
Martin knew the girls, according to police.
For some of them, the alleged abuse occurred as frequently as every other week for several years, Agnew wrote in an court documents.
The molestations spanned as many as six years for some of the girls, Agnew said.
Police arrested Martin Sunday night, and on Tuesday, prosecutors charged him with one count of first-degree sexual assault of a child and five counts of third-degree sexual assault of a child.
The first-degree sexual assault charge alone carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.
Lancaster County Judge James Foster ordered Martin not to have any contact with the girls or anyone under the age of 16.
Martin remained at the Lancaster County jail on $500,000 bond Wednesday.
