A convicted child molester has reportedly admitted to victimizing another youngster, albeit before his incarceration in the earlier case.
Brian Patrick Lee Caldwell, 28 — listed on the Indiana Sex and Violent Offender Registry as living at 2200 S. Eaton Ave. — was arrested Wednesday on a preliminary charge of child molesting.
According to an affidavit, Caldwell was being questioned about an unrelated case in Jay County on May 28 when “he admitted and then signed a written confession” to sexually abusing a girl under the age of 13.
Interviewed last week, that child acknowledged having been fondled by Caldwell several years earlier, when she was approximately 9 years old.
In October 2011, Caldwell was sentenced to eight years in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of child molesting. He had been accused of engaging in sex acts with two 13-year-old girls at a mutual friend’s southside home in July 2010.
An Indiana Department of Correction website reflects Caldwell was released from custody last September. He remained in the Delaware County jail on Thursday under a $10,000 bond.
