A registered sex offender was arrested Monday night on a child molesting charge.
Ryan Davis, 36, of 1006 S. M St. was arrested Monday night and lodged in the Wayne County Jail on a Level 4 felony charge of child molesting. He bonded out early Tuesday morning, posting 10 percent of a $25,000 bond.
A complaint from the Indiana Department of Child Services began the investigation that led to Davis’ arrest, according to Richmond Police Department Capt. Kevin Wampler.
Details about what Davis is alleged to have done were not available Tuesday.
Davis previously reached a plea agreement in a 2009 case where he was charged with child molesting and sexual battery. Davis pleaded guilty to the sexual battery charge (a Class D felony), and the child molesting charge was dismissed.
He was sentenced on Jan. 12, 2012, in Wayne County Superior Court II to 547 days in prison, with all but 180 days suspended to probation.
After Davis’ release from prison, he was required to register as a sex offender for 10 years, until April 9, 2022.
In the 2009 case, Davis, who was staying at a friend’s home, was accused of climbing into bed between two juvenile males. One of the boys, a 12-year-old, told his mother Davis fondled him while he tried to sleep. Davis admitted rubbing the back, waist and hip area of one of the boys for about 30 seconds, according to court documents.
Davis also has served three felony sentences for dealing in cocaine or a narcotic drug, according to the Indiana Department of Correction. He was sentenced in 2000, 2002 and 2006.
