An Ardmore man in jail since October on child pornography charges has been charged with additional crimes after investigators identified one of his alleged victims.
Jody Wade Witt, 41, was charged this week with five counts of producing child pornography. He was already in the Madison County jail on charges of possession and dissemination of child porn that were levied against him in October. His total bond for all seven charges is $400,000.
“After a forensic examination of his computer, we were able to determine that he was posing as a 15-year-old boy,” said Investigator Jeremy Hughes of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office. “Getting in chat rooms, talking to young ladies in chat rooms, trying to get them to send him naked pictures of themselves, as well as trying to figure out personal information on them.”
Hughes said dozens of photos were found on Witt’s computer, which was seized by investigators in November.
Over the past six months, the investigator on the case has been able to identify just one of the girls depicted in the photos, Hughes. More victims are out there, though Hughes would not say how many.
The identified girl is not from the Madison County area, he said, naming Georgia, Florida and Tennessee as some of the locations where victims are believed to live. Hughes said thus far, there is no evidence that Witt traveled out of state to meet any of his victims.
