A Shelbyville man booked on felony charges of child molesting has accepted a guilty plea.
According to court records, Jacob Cody Mayo will be sentenced May 22 before Judge Kent Apsley. Mayo was arrested after allegations surfaced that between May 2014 and June 30, 2014, he did on one or more occasions, engage in deviate sexual conduct with a child less than 14 years of age.
According to a police report from the Shelbyville Police Department, the victim learned about inappropriate touching in school and told family members what happened.
Law enforcement reported that when attempting to schedule an interview with Mayo, he told police he knew why they wanted to talk with him, but stated that exams were done and nothing was found.
An interview was later conducted with Mayo and charges were filed shortly after.
