A Palmyra man was arrested on Tuesday after an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage girl, according to Somerset County Sheriff Dale Lancaster.
Stephen Lowe, 39, is accused of gross sexual assault, a Class A felony, and unlawful sexual contact, according to Lancaster.
Investigative efforts revealed that the incident involving Lowe and the 13-year-old girl occurred in January, according to Lancaster, and that Lowe and the victim were familiar with one another.
Detective Jeremy Leal had received a report from the Department of Health and Human Services and the district attorney’s office on Feb. 21, Lancaster said.
Lowe was arrested without incident and was expected to be arraigned on Wednesday, Lancaster said.
