A Carlisle man is being held in prison on $1 million bail and is facing several rape charges after police say he sexually assaulted a young boy while he was between the ages of 5 and 10.
Paul D. Whisner, 31, was arrested Thursday after being wanted on charges of felony rape of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, aggravated indecent assault of a child, indecent assault of a person less than 13 years old, sexual assault, intimidating a victim or witness, corruption of minors, unlawful contact with a minor, misdemeanor terroristic threats and two counts of simple assault.
Carlisle Police obtained an arrest warrant Wednesday after an investigation into the alleged sexual assault of a juvenile boy.
Police thanked the community for tips that led to his arrest.
The affidavit of probable cause states that, during a forensic interview on Jan. 27, the boy reported he was sexually and physically assaulted by Whisner during the span of five years. The document states the abuse occurred when the boy was between 5 and 10 years old, between July 4, 2008, and July 2, 2014.
The document further states Whisner forced the boy into sexual situations and beat him with a belt, causing him to black out.
Whisner told the boy that if he ever told anyone he would send him to military school or would kill him, the document states.
He was arraigned Thursday and held in Cumberland County Prison on $1 million cash bail.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 25 before Magisterial District Judge Jessica Brewbaker.
