A former teacher at a private school in Bithlo was arrested Tuesday after allegedly molesting a student and saying he wanted to marry her, deputies said.
Patrick Madden, 31, who worked at Orange County Academy, also told the student he had “sexual fantasies” about her, the arrest affidavit said.
He was charged with lewd and lascivious conduct and molestation. The girl was between the ages of 12 and 15.
Madden kissed the girl on the lips in a classroom that doubled as a chapel, deputies said. He touched her inappropriately at a local movie theater and in his vehicle, the affidavit said. He also called the victim and told her to lie about the relationship because he could go to jail.
Madden was taken to the Orange County Jail where he is being held without bond.
Orange County Academy is run through the Christian nonprofit organization, United Global Outreach, who said they have suspended Madden from his employment.
“We will cooperate fully with law enforcement and seek to find out the facts associated with this issue,” said Tim McKinney, executive vice president of United Global Outreach.
