A 69-year-old Prescott Valley man has been arrested on suspicion of molesting a minor over the course of seven years.
Clarence Auburn Jones was arrested Nov. 4 and charged with sexual exploitation of a minor and molestation of a child. The alleged incidents happened from 2005 to 2012, according to a Prescott Valley Police Department news release.
The victim said the abuse began when she was 10 years old and continued through 2012, according to the release.
A friend of the victim reported her concerns to Child Protective Services in Arizona in 2012, but police could not substantiate that the victim had been molested, according to the release.
The victim had moved to another state and denied being a victim of the crime when questioned by that state’s authorities, further complicating the case, according to the release.
But detectives received new information that Jones was possessing child pornography and they served a search warrant. Investigators found an extensive child pornography collection that included videos he made with the alleged victim, according to the release.
Detectives contacted the girl, who is now 19, and she cooperated in the investigation, claiming she was emotionally relieved that the truth was finally out, according to the release.
Jones was being held without bond in the Yavapai County Jail on one count of continuous sexual abuse of a child, 16 counts of sexual conduct with a minor and 28 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, all class II felonies, according to the release.
