The U.S. Marshal’s Lone Star Fugitive Task Force arrested a convicted child sex offender from Oklahoma outside the Downtown El Paso public library on Thursday, officials said.
Teddy Dean Davis, 30, of Marlow, Okla., had been convicted of lewd acts with a child in 2011. Davis had met a man by answering an online sex ad. The man allowed Davis to molest his 6-year-old autistic son while the dad watched, according to news reports from Oklahoma.
Davis was sentenced to 10 years in prison, served two years, was paroled and then allegedly failed to comply with his sex offender registration, U.S. Marshals Service officials said.
In June, Oklahoma authorities learned Davis was living in Texas, officials said.
On Thursday evening, task force members doing surveillance spotted Davis sitting with a group of men outside the library, officials said. He was arrested without incident. Davis is being held at the El Paso County Jail awaiting extradition to Oklahoma.
