Lauderdale County authorities have arrested a man accused of raping a young girl.
Chief Deputy Ward Calhoun says 46-year-old Rodney Johnson has been charged with two counts of statutory rape and one count of forcible rape.
Calhoun says in late May, the mother of a pre-teen female reported that Johnson had molested her daughter.
Forensic evidence was processed at the Mississippi Crime Lab, which led to the arrest.
“Individuals who molest children, who do these types of things, tend to continue that type of activity until they are caught,” said Calhoun. “And they should have to pay the punishment for what they’ve done.”
Calhoun says Johnson’s total bond has been set at $150,000. He was being held in the Lauderdale County Detention Facility.
