A Shelby County man is facing multiple sex-related charges pertaining to allegations involving a juvenile victim.
Authorities on Sunday arrested Alfred Ray Landers, 77, on warrants including two counts of sexual abuse of a child less than 12 years old and one charge each of second-degree sexual abuse and first-degree sodomy, according to documents filed in Shelby County District Court in Columbiana.
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office handled the investigation in the matter.
“Mr. Landers’ arrest resulted from an investigation following a report of sodomy, in which a juvenile victim alleged Mr. Landers was the offender,” Sheriff’s Sgt. Clay Hammac said in an email this morning. “The investigation involved a forensic interview conducted at the Owens House Child Advocacy Center of Shelby County, which resulted in investigators obtaining a warrant for Landers.”
Landers, who lists an address on Summerwood Circle in north Shelby County, remained in the Shelby County jail this morning on bonds totaling $70,000. Information about upcoming court hearings was not listed in his online court file this morning.
