A 48-year-old Aurora, Indiana man has been arrested on suspicion that he molested a 12-year-old New Point girl.
Michael L. Kilburn has been charged with three counts of child molesting, two Class A felonies and one Class C felony. Kilburn was arrested by the Decatur County Sheriff’s Department on Wednesday and remains at Decatur County Jail on $75,000 bond.
According to court documents, the victim’s mother told authorities in March that her 12-year-old daughter woke her early one morning and told her Kilburn had molested her.
The victim was taken to Margaret Mary Hospital in Batesville, which notified Decatur County Department of Child Services. A case officer assisted the mother in going to the sheriff’s department to report the incident.
The court documents also state that Kilburn told police that he denied the allegations and that the victim “lies all the time.”
The victim told authorities that she was molested, and a doctor at Riley Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis found physical evidence corroborating her story and said the child’s “behavior was consistent with children that have been sexually abused,” according to court documents.
